Proximity sensors or presence detectors used in industry are often composed of transceivers using infrared light. These detectors suffer from limitations related to distance and ambient lighting. In order to solve this problem, this project aimed to design the optics of a new generation of multifunctional presence detectors that would use in an innovative way the existing techniques of synchronous detection and polarized light.
