The goal of this PART project is to determine how to develop functional and stable ink formulations containing luminescent, shiny, and multicolored sensors based on lanthanide-doped nanoparticles for micro-printing; use these ink formulations to fabricate prototype optical temperature and ion sensors by aerosol microprinting on photonic devices and fiber optics.
In this PART project, the need for new ink-based detection tools containing lanthanide-doped nanoparticles was expressed by researchers from the Hemmer laboratory of the University of Ottawa (for temperature detection) and confirmed by private companies including Kemira for the detection of metal ions, Immune Biosolutions for the combination of the new diagnostic tool with the development of immunotherapy and Cytodiagnostics to carry out diagnostic tests in order to detect disease biomarkers.
